***Warning LOOOOONG post***
We had a Family Reunion up in Salmon Idaho so Steve and I decided to leave a day earlier and go to Craters of the Moon just outside of Arco, ID (if you know where that is). Didn’t know what to expect… but had a great time.
Our Campsite…
Rather small… out tent barely fit, but it was the most private site we found and it was right by the AUTOMATIC FLUSHING TOILETS!!!
Never had automatic flushing toilets at any campground and DID NOT expect them at this one.
Eli LOVED playing in the dirt… if you look closely you can see his war paint (Love his eyes)
Just a CUTE picture of Eli
Hiking the Inferno Cone… as you can see it was pretty desolate.
Besides some shrubs this tree was the only life on top
View from the top
Wed. morning we hiked (walked) to some caves… these pictures give a better view of what the rest of the park was like.
LOTS OF LAVA ROCK!!! Very little growth.
Indian Tunnel… it’s called a Lava Tuber because you go in one end and out the other
Walking back to the entrance and paved trail… They had posts to follow because people would come out and get lost
Hiking is hard work!!
Inside Beauty Cave…
There were 4 caves to go in but the other 2 had much smaller entrances and were not accessible with an infant carrier.
Glad we went… it was a waste land but it was cheap and entertaining for one night.
Now on to Salmon Idaho…
We camped about 12 miles south of Salmon and enjoyed floating the river and being outside with family
Eli played with this Tow Mater toy NONSTOP!!!
Getting ready to go down the river
a few pictures at camp
We saw a Blue Herron every time we floated and we also saw a Bald Eagle. Steve was able to take pictures of one from camp
Steve had gone into town with my dad and brother to get some things and they went to Kings.
He found this Whale for $2. Our last float he rode it most of the time… it was awesome!
The shark next to it was Caleb’s
Sharing a sleeping bag after a LONG night
Our Family at Salmon
After Salmon… Steve had a job in Burley, Idaho so I tagged along.
I was a bit concerned about having enough to do but the County Fair was going so we had plenty to do.
Walking around the Fairgrounds looking at the animals
Cows and Sheep
Not a fan of the Pigs… they were NOISY
We also tried Fried Oreos…I can honestly say I will never have them again.
We only ate 2 of the 4
On Wed. we went to the Parade. Eli got really impatient waiting but when he learned people would through candy he really enjoyed it
We also went to the park a lot… Eli had learned how to stand up on his own… and has since taken steps (that will come in a different post)
Then on Thurs. we went to the Rodeo
It was a great Rodeo
Calf roping and Calf Chasing…
For the Calf Chasing, they had all kid ages 8-12 go out and try and catch calf’s that had ribbons on them with prizes… it was Great!!
This is how Eli ended the rodeo
When we got home… we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to celebrate Mom and Steve’s Birthday.
August was a very full month but we had a lot of fun…
Can’t believe I’m saying it but… On to September.
Where has the summer gone?
